Top seed Fide Master Rakesh Kumar Jena from Jajpur district won the title in the Telegraph All-Odisha Open School Chess Tournament, scoring 8.5 points out of a possible nine at KIIT University campus here today.
The best school prize was claimed by Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS). A total 140 players from 10 districts participated in the three-day tournament, which was organised by All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA).
India`s second Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua and KIIT University Registrar Sasmita Samanta handed over the prizes at the closing function. AOCA secretary Vivek Tibarewal, vice-presidents Ranjan Kumar Mohanty and joint-secretary Manoj Panigrahi were present on the occasion.
